Billie Eilish unveiled a new look for the June 2021 cover of British Vogue that has sparked a global conversation. The 19-year-old Grammy-winning singer first drew public attention when she was only 15-years-old and released her song “Ocean Eyes.” It wasn’t until 2019, however, that Billie became a global sensation with her album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? co-written and produced by her brother Finneas. The album’s success put the teenager in the spotlight and as she was under the age of 18-years-old, the way Billie Eilish dressed and presented herself spoke volumes. It could be said, that Billie’s appearance helped define her as an artist — even though she was carving out her career on her own terms.
Now, 19-years-old, Billie is embracing her femininity, her curves, and her womanhood. The Vogue photos, shot by Craig McDean, are making viral social media rounds as many are shocked to see Billie embrace her blonde-bombshell curves. Styled by Dena Giannini, Billie wore designs from Gucci to Mugler and fans were stunned to see the gorgeous pics.
In the accompanying British Vogue article, Billie opened up about her insecurities with her figure and discussed the pressure that has been placed on her as a role model for body positivity. As Billie is embracing change, she is a bit concerned how people will respond to her new look — especially now that she’s showing off a hint of her hourglass figure that she kept hidden under her baggy hip-hop clothing that became her signature style.
Billie opened up about her style evolution and the hair transformation she underwent to change her black and green modern mullet into a platinum blonde, long-layered style. For her British Vogue shoot, hairstylist BENJAMIN created a 40s look with loose S- curls and soft waves. BENJAMIN also styled Billie’s hair for her upcoming, third studio album Happier Than Ever.
Billie’s blonde look went viral and fans love the change. Speaking about her style, Billie told the following to British Vogue.
It’s all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery. If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing f–ck it — if you feel like you look good, you look good.
